MBA & Harrington Reading blog

When reading Chapter two in “The Photographer’s MBA”. I was a little upset how he put down wedding photographers again. But he is right it is not for everyone. Yes I was first asked by friends and family to take pictures during their wedding. Then when reading Chapter four in out “Best Business Practices for Photographers.” It talks about all the things we will face when working and dealing in the freelance job field. It also was talking about how with many companies that use freelancers there is always the chance a person can lose their job. No one is ever promise or guaranteed their job spot is ever safe.

Ever event and job they have to step up their game and really work hard. Like they always say you only get what you put into it. Which is very true if you only put half the effort into it then you only get half the reward. Even the small jobs need to be treated as a big job. You never know when a small job can turn into a big job or better yet when a small job refers you to a big client. Also with how the economy is a lot of freelancers can lose their jobs by being let go. The main point is when something like this happens you need to know what your next step is where you want to go after.

Some pick to work on their own and open their own studio, some work for others and some just work in different field. This question can hunt a lot of people for some don’t know what would be the best not only for themselves but also their families. Freelance there is always a good side as well as a bad side. In the long run we all have to take the time to really think about what we want in the long run.
