Blog About 11 Things Photographers Wish They Learned in School and Why Attitude Matters

When reading “Eleven Things Photographers Wish They Learned in School”. I absolute love the quote Brian Peterson said “Balance is the key to survival! One thing that school never prepared me for was to always keep your life in balance. It’s very easy to turn your life over to photography, or whatever passion you have. Always make time for family, friends and a cold beer on a hot porch. Preferably all three together!” That nailed it right on the head and I could complete agree with him a hundred percent.

Same with Joe McNally when he talks about if we are so afraid to basically taking the leap of faith and trusting in ourselves. Then all that will happen is not giving our all in what we love or say we love. I know sometimes I get scared we all do even people who look like nothing can hurt them. Everyone is scared of something we just have to face our feels as the last book I read “take baby steps.” I found it interesting when Robert Seale takes about marketing classes. I know I took like three or four classes and I am happy I did. By taking different marketing and business classes it prepares you for getting ready to start a business all the way to everyday running a business 24/7.

I know as many college students dislike it but to be honest it really made me learn and look at a few key pointers to look out for. When reading “Why Attitude Matters” I immediately got a kick out of just the first paragraph. Yes I am one of those types of photographers. I love with a passion taking wedding pictures and being a very upbeat and bouncy person. If you would ask my friends and family they would more than likely laugh and say “yeah we can never keep her in one place.” I know weddings is not for everyone, it is a high and fast past way of taking pictures. There is no time for retakes you only have one chance to make you picture a one of a kind.

Reading more into this reading I have to say yes and no to the comment about screening a client. Yes I meet with my client before the rehearsal and we basically plan how the day will flow. For me I don’t pick my clients are they pick me. I take on all kinds of weddings because I love the thrill and advances that lay with how the day will turn out. Giving that said yes I have had some weddings that have changed on me last minute but that is all part of being a professional photographer. You have to be willing to change our game plan in matter of seconds. My biggest joy is not how much I get it is at the end of the day being able to capture every special moment.

To that one single tear falling down the fathers cheek to the bride and groom walking hand in hand fingers interlock and walking out as husband and wife.Attitude does matter alot for how you act can determinants if you get the job or not. One wrong move can also have a snow ball effect and can cost you future clients to look else were.
